Cup Comparison

THE DIFFERENCES

Which menstrual cup should I get?

So you’ve decided to take the plunge and switch to a menstrual cup? Good on you!

It can seem like there are a lot of options, but rest assured – it’s really not too complicated. We’ve done up a comparison below to show you.

The menstrual cups we stock at For Flo have very similar qualities, sizes and capacities. We don’t favour a specific brand and think each of these cups can be utilised by the majority of women. They all have the same function, to collect menstrual blood without drying out natural moisture, using unnecessary chemicals, and continuous waste production.

For your peace of mind, here at For Flo we only sell menstrual cups that are listed in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) as safe for sale in Australia.

The Divacup Menstrual Cup Model 1

The DivaCup

Pros Has a choice of colours. Extra flexible silicone makes it easy to fold for insertion, and opens up well inside. Extra flexible silicone makes it easy to fold for insertion, and opens up well inside. Has a long viable reputation and is a popular choice.
Prominent rings on the cup base and the flat tab stem make this cup easy to remove. More shape choices with four Models available to suit more anatomies. A shorter design compared to other cups, especially Model 1, can be a better choice for those with a lower cervical position. Mid-range firmness, great for most users.
Model 1 is great for beginners and young teen users. Australian made and owned, we love to support local. Australian made and owned, we love to support local.
Model 2 is the most firm of all options and a good choice for those after childbirth with lowered pelvic muscle tone. Now with a better grips on the base and nodules on the stem for easier removal.
Cons Firmer Model 2 may cause discomfort to those with sensitivity. Softer silicone may not be suitable for women with lower pelvic muscle tone. Glossy texture and less prominent grips can make it harder to remove than other cups for some women, but something most can get the hang of with practise. Longest of the 3 choices, even with the stem cut off, it may not suit those with a lower cervical position.
Softer silicone may not be suitable for women with lower pelvic muscle tone. Hollow stem can be harder to clean.
