Description

Using JuJu is a gentle and reliable way to keep your body clean and comfortable. A menstrual cup is used like a tampon, but collects rather than absorbs menstrual flow. Quite simply, the JuJu menstrual cup is more convenient and provides you with greater freedom to do what you want.

DESIGN MODIFICATIONS FROM PREVIOUS MODELS

The existing Model 1 and Model 2 JuJu have had two minor design tweaks. These changes have been to the;

  • Grip pattern: The butterfly pattern at the base of the cup has been raised and is a matte finish for extra grip.
  • Stem: Nodules have been added to the stem to provide extra strength and indicate trim points for people who prefer a shorter stem.
ADDITIONAL MODELS

In addition to the existing Model 1 and Model 2 JuJu Cups, two new JuJu cup models have been added to the range;

  • Model 3 is a longer-bodied cup designed for women with a high cervix/long vaginal canal.
  • Model 4 is a shorter cup designed for women with a low cervix/shorter vaginal canal and for women who may have decreased pelvic floor tone.
FEATURES
  • Environmentally friendly – nothing to throw away.
  • Economic – it can last up to 10 years, greatly minimising regular costs.
  • Comfortable – most won’t even feel it.
  • Reliable – no leaks or odours.
  • Convenient and compact – collects more than a tampon or pad and can be worn 2-3 times longer, for up to 8 hours.
  • Safer – contains no harmful substances and won’t cause vaginal dryness.
  • Hygienic – easy to clean and disinfect.
  • Ideal for almost everyone, even those who are active, travel or play sports.
  • The only menstrual cup made in Australia.
USAGE

The JuJu menstrual cup comes with a detailed User Guide, but in short:

The cup is folded and inserted into the vagina where it opens to create a seal and securely collect menstrual fluid. When full, you simply remove it, empty into the toilet, rinse or wipe out with toilet paper, and re-insert. At the end of your period it is cleaned, stored, and then ready to reuse during your next period.

The JuJu menstrual cup is listed in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG), AUST L180153.

The menstrual cups available at For Flo are some of the few registered for sale in Australia.

Size Guide

The new JuJu menstrual cup is available in four models and can be used by women of all ages.

Whilst there are no hard and fast rules for selecting a cup size, model selection is generally based on childbearing history. However, other factors such as anatomy, age and pelvic floor tone may influence your choice.

The following table is a guide to model numbers based on various factors.

Model Suitable for women who
1 HAVE NOT had a vaginal birth.
Have a particularly strong pelvic floor tone due to practicing regular kegel exercises or other activities such as pilates, yoga or dance, regardless of childbearing history.
Are virgins, as well as sexually active young women.
Have a petite or small build.
Have a low to medium cervix or shorter vaginal canal.
Have had vaginal corrective surgery.
2 HAVE had a vaginal birth.
Have a larger build.
Have a medium to high cervix or longer vaginal canal.
Have a weaker vaginal and pelvic floor tone due to hormonal changes or age.
Have a heavier menstrual flow.
3 Have a HIGH cervix or long vaginal canal.
Have a particularly strong pelvic floor tone due to practicing regular kegel exercises or other activities such as pilates, yoga or dance, regardless of childbearing history.
Are virgins, as well as sexually active young women.
4 HAVE had a vaginal birth.
Have a LOW cervix or short vaginal canal.
Have a weaker vaginal and pelvic floor tone due to hormonal changes or age.

Note: Sizing recommendations should be used as a guide only.

If you have had a caesarean birth, a Model 1 or Model 2 cup may be suitable, or Model 3 or Model 4 based on cervix height and pelvis muscle tone.

If you have any gynaecological concerns, such as prolapse, we recommend you seek the advice of your medical practitioner prior to using a menstrual cup to see if it is suitable for you.

Your cervical position may also influence you ability to successfully use a menstrual cup.

Care

It is important to follow the care instructions outlined in your User Guide to ensure good vaginal health and prevent any damage to your menstrual cup.

Remember to always wash your hands before inserting or removing your cup.

At the end of each cycle wash and sterilise your menstrual cup before storing it.

DURING YOUR PERIOD
  • If you are just removing your menstrual cup to empty and reinsert, you can either:
    • wipe out with toilet paper, a tissue, clean cloth or specific cup wipe; or
    • rinse with water.
  • If you are removing your cup and leaving out for a longer interval during your cycle, it is a good idea to wash with soap (or a specific cup cleanser), warm water and a soft cloth or brush to remove any residual build up.
AFTER YOUR PERIOD

Clean:

  • Wash your menstrual cup with soap (or a specific cup cleanser), warm water and a soft cloth or brush to remove any residual build up.
  • Ensure that the tiny holes at the top of your cup are clear as they help form and release the seal. The holes can be cleaned by squirting water through them or carefully use a toothpick (discard after use) to remove any debris.
  • Thoroughly rinse your cup, then sterilise.

Sterilise:

  • Boil your menstrual cup in a pot of water for 3 – 5 minutes. Do not boil for more than 5 minutes or let it boil dry as this can cause damage the cup.
  • Use a sterilisation solution, such as Milton Antibacterial Tablets (Milton Website), as per their instructions.

Store:

  • Rinse and dry your menstrual cup before putting it back in its own storage pouch until your next period.
  • Always store your cup in a ventilated area; never keep in a plastic bag or airtight container as moisture cannot evaporate without airflow and your cup will not dry properly.
ADDITIONAL CARE
  • Over time, you might notice some discolouration of your cup. If this occurs you can try to remove it using isopropyl rubbing alcohol, but some staining is common due to the nature of blood and bodily fluids. Discolouration is not a cause for concern as long as you are regularly cleaning and sterilising your cup.
  • Regularly check your cup for any rips, tears, changes in texture, or unusual odours that sterilising doesn’t remove. If any of these occur, it is time to dispose of your cup and replace it.
